A Clear Case of Rubbery -
A while back, I spent lots of fun time on the writing of little "dumb poems." That was a bad enough thing for a grown person to have done, but I made things even worse by sticking much of that doggerel into an E-book, copies of which I gave away to anyone foolish enough to ask for one.
Sometime down the road a ways, should I last long enough to put a website together for "giveaway stuff" - I will again make copies of that old E-book available to those who want a copy of the thing and don't know any better than to download it.
In the meantime, here is one of those dumb poems. It is all about another of my bad habits - my collecting "toys" and little things to get in the way of space on my desktop.
Mostly my collection relates to football and baseball junk, but some of the stuff is more juvenile as to its nature.
Witness the following five-liner:-
A Clear Case of Rubbery
Has anyone seen my plastic rat?
He's polystyrene and really fat.
When last I fed him milk and cheeses
he kissed my nose and gave me squeezes.
(I suspect my rubber cat ! )

@TheHorse - I have been told that before. There have been some others, too. The only poet that I have heard of who actually made a good living writing short and funny poems was Ogden Nash. He used to make up many of his own words to cement a rhyme. For instance, in his shorty about the ugly rhinoceros critter- to wit -
"Rhinoceros.
Prepoceros."

Well hope you will be sticking around with us for a bit Gus.
I love the title and the poem.
Hope to see the site with the downloads for us then.

@TiarasOceanView - I was on my way out of here for today when I came upon your early response to this discussion - if discussion is what we are supposed to call such stuff...
Cannot promise longevity, but I will continue with my vitamins and blood pressure pills. So, one never can tell. I will be trying to put a WordPress site together to hold stuff such as some of the doggerel junk and the nice photos put aside from the not-so-hot photos. One of my friends is going to present me with another digital camera such that the pix might be improved somewhat. We shall see what we shall see, right?
I am glad that you enjoyed my request for help in finding my lost plastic (polystyrene) rat.

@Ceerios Thanks for your prompt reply Gus.
I will look forward to it for sure.
I did enjoy it and the title is so catchy.
I hope you can get the site done whenever you can then.
Stay well my friend.
Have a nice day.

Writing poems that amuse others can be fun and sometimes even earn us a bit of cash

@PatZAnthony - Ms Pat - Are you attempting to put pecuniary thoughts into my shrinking brain. How am I going to collect subsidies for the joys of Alzheimer's if I am earning real money by amusing folks? You are absolutely correct. Writing poems that might cause people to smile is a really fun deal.
I like to read funny poems, like the nonsense put forth by Norman Lear and Ogden Nash, and the like.

@responsiveme - Indeed so. And the takeaway from this might be " a guess is really not the same as a "yes."
Couldn't eat it.
(Too fat.)
