Male Rompers are Not New

I keep seeing everyone carrying on about "male rompers" on social media, like this is some new concept that has never existed before. I generally have been seeing gay men taking credit for this "new" creation. Sorry to break it to them, but the male romper has existed for a while already. Davy Jones wore one covered in happy faces in the "Regional Girl" video from the "Hey Hey It's the Monkees" special that aired in 1997. I'm pretty sure other dudes were seen sporting those back in the day too. So I don't know why the Internet has blown up all of a sudden as if this is some new, original piece of attire.
It annoys me when people act like things are completely new and original when they aren't. Everyone's going nuts over these things -- either because they're dying to wear them or vowing to kill anyone they see wearing one -- but it's not even a new clothing item. My sister used to wear one in middle school -- granted, she's not a man, but it was an adult sized romper (or jumpsuit as we used to call them) and you really couldn't tell what gender it was intended for. It's like in the age of the Internet, where we have so much info so easily at our fingertips, people conveniently forget that things already exist.
You can check out Davy Jones in his happy face jumpsuit here (you can see it best at the 1:40 mark):

@Srbageldog OMG, now I'm dying haha. The thing is I bet I could convince him to wear it at least once, even if he would burn it shortly after. They are definitely hideous, and yeah they aren't new and it's like people completely forgot this fact.

@sissy15 I wonder if they make rompers in potato print? If not, maybe you could make him one from a potato sack. XD

I think they're hideous but it annoys me how so many people are freaking out like it's something new. Sean Connery even wore one back in the '60s! Haha, you should get Cory a romper, and I'll send him a fanny pack to go with it for Christmas! XD

Definitely not new, as ludacris wore one at one point.

I think they were called jumpsuits back in the day. I was trying to remember who else I had seen in one, as I know I used to see them everywhere!

Old fashion always returns with a twist, this is what happened I guess. People now are going ga ga over it..

Very true! I think it's funny. But also irritating when people act like it's never existed before!

People have selective memories I guess! But how on earth could they forget those things? They were pretty memorable!

Yep, agreed. Men's one-piece clothing have been around for a very long time. I even thought of Elvis, but I think his jumpsuits had long sleeves and pants legs. Still. not much difference! Liberace wore flashy jumpsuits too.

@Srbageldog Yes, they were long, of course. I agree that the idea is not really new. People are funny.

Maybe. But this time it has been introduced with a big bang. People are crazy about them. They are looking pretty cool and are introduced in various designs, colors, and with better fitting. They are coming in two pieces having the same color and design both bottom and top. The top is selected having good fitting and mostly will be of waist length only. I ordered for one in Amazon and waiting for it to come.

They have been around for decades and were pretty popular. I don't know why people have forgotten that they existed.
