I've got a problem

I've not been around much because the stresses at home made playing games more attractive than being here. Sad I know, but just the way I am.
However, because I need to be healthy to help take care of my wife, I decided that I needed to go to a cardiologist and get a baseline on my health.
"A cardiologist? why not your regular doctor?" I hear you ask.
Well, you see, my father's father died of a heart attack when my father was 9. My father had a quadruple heart bypass at 61 or 62. Yes, he died at 63, but that was from the cancer.
My mother's mother died of a massive stroke at 61. My mother died of stroke related dementia back in 2010.
My brother had several stints put in last year - during tax season no less! Since he's a CPA, you sort of see that it must've been considered important. He was 64.
So, here I am at 63, and not really having any idea how I am doing. So, I thought a cardio guy might be the best place to start.
He sent me off for that cholesterol panel, and, unsurprisingly, I was high on the LDLs. He also sent me to do a "Heart Saver" CT scan. Here, happily, I ranked at a "0" meaning I had no hard plaque build up in my veins.
So, he ordered me to get on a "statin" drug, the only problem is... that darn corn allergy. I called the office on Tuesday after checking with the pharmacy for the company that they get their drug from and then the internet to discover that what he wants me on has corn in it. I waited today to see if I got a call back, so I guess I'm calling them tomorrow, again, to let them know I can't take it and what else he wants me to look up.
Because, if I can't take the drugs, I'm not going to take them, living a long time is not nearly as good as being almost reasonably healthy as the fibro allows me to live.
Besides, exactly how long will I live if I am having serious reactions to the stuff?
So, if anyone on here is taking some kind of statin drug, if you could list the company that produces your med and its name, so I could look it up, I should would appreciate it.

I read online after I read your post and it seems that with diets and excercise and so on you might not need the statins
