Wealth is obliterated within six generations

I read this in a book recently. The book isn't of any importance because the subject matter doesn't relate to wealth. With that being said, I found the quote interesting, and true enough.
I don't have any really well off relatives. We all seem to know how to handle our money, but many of us are still only getting by because of our circumstances. I've had ancestors on both sides that seemed to be well off enough, but these ancestors are long dead and so wealth that trickled down would not touch us.
Some might argue that it is all in the handling of the money, and that is true enough. However, investments fail, depressions (I.E. The Great Depression) happen, and money is lost along the way.
I imagine the majority of people here are not wealthy, though you may have a well off relative or two...
Wealth isn't all it's cracked up to be, at any rate...

Still it would be nice to have a bit more in order not to struggle. As Mae West famously said, “I've been rich and I've been poor, and rich is better.”

I'd rather be able to get by and still have a little bit of a nest. I don't want to be filthy rich.. Money changes people.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, it certainly does. A friend commented that he eats healthier when he's broke than when he has money.

They say you only live once... might as well live large while you can...
I'd still save in a High Yielding Account.

@ScribbledAdNauseum - I'd do that, but I'd probably still be spending it.

Money is a wonderful thing, but in the long run, it means nothing. Your reputation is the only thing that endures into the future.

I agree. Money can only ever be remembered if it was used for a good cause... Even then, without a commemorative plaque or other physical record, it too will be forgotten.
