On the road, taking a rest

Over the years I have shared interesting things from our trips and from the rest stops along the way.
In this photo is something I had never seen before. It was a lending library, or free book system.
There are some books in the blue case. It is weather tight. The sign says it all. . . for those who want to read they can take one, but should leave one in its place.
Have you ever seen anything like this? I believe it was in Iowa.

I have seen similar things out on country roads near vacation rentals.

Ahh, that is good. Many people on vacation do not have accounts at public libraries. People still do read. Yay!

@GardenGerty This rental we are in has a full bookcase of books - most are older but it's still a nice touch.

I was surprised at it being at a rest area. I had heard of neighborhood ones.

Well, that is neat. Where I used to donate platelets had a shelf of books for those who wanted to read. Hubby would often get to take them home. I would bring some back that we were done with.
