“Will you survive using a bamboo in the forest?”

When I was hiking with my colleagues and inspected some community projects, we were able to try zipping the water from the bamboo trunks. I thought it is not possible. I think if we are stranded in the forest, we can use bamboo in surviving for a day or two. We can have some wild fruits on trees or on the ground like wild berries. At some instances, if we are planning to have some camping, we can bring some rice and cooked it with the use of bamboo. “Would you agree that we can survive in the forest using a bamboo?” Image Credit: Shavkat

My family and I went to that jungle survival course in Subic, the former American base, a few years ago and there we learned many things we can do with bamboo including fire making and many others, I would advise people to look it up and maybe attend if they have the chance and means, it was a great experience

I also had seen the trainer in the Subic. He had shown how to survive using the bamboo in the forest. I also remembered they have a mini zoo there.

I agree. We can use the bamboo sticks to make a temporary shelter and hunt something to eat in the forest.

the bamboo, being the tallest grass, is a versatile one. just like the coconut where nothing is left useless, i think the bamboo is also a useful plant.

We can use as like a spear in catching a wild pig and make "lechon" out of the bamboo stick.

Could you really sip from bamboo trunks? Does the water taste different if you do that?

@Shavkat I am living in a forest but I don't know how to cook using bamboo. Maybe I'll just eat raw sweet potatoes

Maybe for a day or two. We can use bamboo as firewood, build a shaft shelter, cook our rice and meal through it, spear to snakes, wild boar, fish and we can use as stick when we are walking.

Well, we need to face it and try to survive dealing with them. Perhaps we have some tools to build some sharp end to the bamboos. It can be a great way to keep safe against the wild animals.

Bamboo is an useful plant. But I am not sure I can survive in the forest with it only. I think I need to have the survival training at first

I think survival instinct will come out from within. However, it is better to have formal training about it.

For the primitive era, they had shown us how to survive sharp bamboo sticks to hunt food in the forest or in the bodies of water in the area.

I remember a documentary film where a Filipino Aeta (an indigenous tribal people) instructor was teaching American soldiers jungle survival techniques and the bamboo prove to be a very useful tool.
