I woke up to a warm house. I left the big heater in the dining room on and my house lost the unlived chilly feeling.
My daughter has her house normally a lot warmer than mine. They both have back problems and Sofía has breathing problems with some colds. So, at the end, it is better to spend more in heating than to pay for expensive meds.
As I have a small retirement pension, I live with a smaller amount of money. And heating in winter is a pain. I use warmer clothes instead. But my daughter gets up very early to send the children to school and then prepares for work.
Are there people from the north hemisphere who don´t use central heating in winter?
Here it is not very common because it is very expensive.

I have lived in places yes with no central heating here.
This one I am in now has it but I rarely use as yes, it is also expensive.
But I live in a very dry climate, so even when it is cold, it does not seep into the bones.

It much depends on the place where you live. Same as the discusion about dogs yesterday.

We don't heat everything on a regular basis but use smaller heaters in the areas where we are sitting. We choose not to heat the sleeping areas most days, even when it is really cold.
While some will say it is cheaper not to use such smaller heaters, you will never prove that to me. Just can't see the sense of heating or cooling where no one is! It would be like having lights on in the empty spaces.

I agree. Although many of my friends told me that the robbers had come because there was no lights in most of the house.

@marguicha It seems to me they would have come regardless @marguicha
Many times we read about people being robbed in their homes or cars while it is still daytime.

I lived in Wisconsin for a year when I was a child. A friend told me that pipes would freeze with no central heating.

Smart to use warmer clothes instead of heating. It has just been the last few years that I have gotten this through to my daughter. I have a very small retirement pension my self and my disability and SS. Still isn't near enough.

I have a gas heater with wheels that I can take it anywhere. I turn it on at breakfast nad at night( not all night, only when I get ready for bed).
