Where's Abby - Day 3

United States

I am actually posting this on Day 4, but who cares right!!?? Day 3 was interesting - after the fun - or unusual - adventure at the pottery place we chilled out, had lunch, relaxed and just enjoyed the quiet. We went to dinner at Murphy's Chophouse, located in town. It is more of an upscale place with white table cloths and actual cloth napkins! It is not basic food, it's a tad more fancy, and of course pricey. But we figured we're on vacation so what the heck. My husband had their seafood platter which consisted of a small lobster tail and six shrimp in a lemon butter sauce - enough butter that Paula Deen would be happy for sure. There were two 'crab cakes' that that were neither cakes (they were round balls) or very crabby - it was all breading. He had some kind of cheese potato wedges and the house veggie which is something else we had no clue what it contained other than tiny tiny pieces of veggies that were unidentifiable. As you can see from the photo I had the prime rib. I was hesitant to order it since the description said roasted in a garlic/herb mixture. I am glad I went for it, there wasn't even the slightest taste of garlic. I'm not sure why southern restaurants like to add garlic to Prime Rib - it's not necessary really. The PR was perfectly cooked and absolutely delish! I was so glad I took the chance. I had a baked potato and that same veggie mix that I didn't eat. I did manage to save some meat for Ruby's doggie bag and she was quite happy with it! We have a few things on the agenda for today but right now I am enjoying the quiet and the beautiful sunrise. Photo is mine - I almost forgot to take one, you can see I had already started dissecting it!

I must admit that the word "garlic" would have deterred me as well.

I think they should just leave that word out of the description since you wouldn't even know it is there.

@AbbyGreenhill It would be likely to deter many people and those who like garlic would only be disappointed. I have often declined to buy ready meals because garlic was listed among the ingredients. Even Dracula likes garlic more than I do.

@Asylum I don't care for garlic for myself or on the breath of others. I once did a mystery shop at a major office supply store and the man I spoke with had such bad garlic breath I had to keep stepping back to get out of the horrid smell of his breath.

Mmmm. Lobster and shrimp. Fish cakes even. My ex and I used to get a wonderful prime rib sandwich up in the hollow which was a area up by where we lived at the time. I think I will be having cod for dinner tonight.

@celticeagle They are hard to find where we live. So a big one with lots of options is a treat.

@hereandthere Yes, and that's not something readily available unless you are near the coast.

That's medium, rare I couldn't eat. Prime rib is meant to be eat very pink in the middle. It was tender as cotton candy!

Ok, you are going to think I am strange (just like my husband thinks I am strange), but I can't eat any kind of steak or prime rib unless it is super well done , no pink at all. My husband scolds me and says that prime rib is cooked even though it has a pink look. I tell him, I just can't not eat it when it has a pink look.

That's your choice but cooking prime rib well is really ruining it. The pink is indeed cooked. It if was red and bleeding in the middle then yes it would be raw. Your husband is absolutely correct. I used to eat mine well done until I learned better. The taste of pink cooked is superior to brown over cooked. If he blindfolded you and gave you pink you would love it.

Oh my goodness, you made me more than hungry, we do not have Prime Rib in Europe and it is my favorite food. I could try to come to the United States swimming to have the one in the photo.

@AbbyGreenhill I have to get a life saver first, I cannot swim. I wonder why restaurants do not import Prime Ribs from the States.

Sorry I made you hungry!!! I don't want to make you drool more, but it was the best prime rib I've had in many years. I am so glad I ordered it. Swim over fast and we can go there for dinner tonight LOL
