Oh, London...

United States
June 3, 2017 9:04pm CST
I had just gotten home when I heard about the most recent events in London. I am truly flabbergasted and beyond words. My heart hurts for the people who are having to pick up the pieces tonight. I haven't gotten all of the details yet, and will not have all of them until sometime tomorrow. I will have to tune into the 5 pm BBC news broadcast at noon tomorrow... I know we have a few Londoners here on Mylot and so I hope all (as well as their families) are safe tonight.

This is becoming too common a news headline recently. Considering how many people travelled a long way to Manchester for the concert at the arena and how many British often visit London, I cannot help but wonder if anyone had family and friends involved in both incidents. Of course I seriously hope not

@ScribbledAdNauseum It does make sense because it also threatens the tourist trade, which is worth millions. This was the reason that holiday resorts were targeted in Tunisia and Turkey, which deters British and German tourists.

@Asylum The only way I would be deterred from visiting is if nothing was being done to stop the terrorist activities. That or a formal warning / temporary ban of traveling into the UK (or any country that issued such a statement) for tourism / vacation reasons.

I hope not either! What I've also thought of is that London is where the majority of new immigrants settle first. It is also the most toured part of the United Kingdom. It's a bustling city with many different nationalities on top of all of that. Those scum choosing London? I fear wasn't random. Of course I don't believe any location they choose to commit these atrocities is random. London just seems to hit home and resonate, if that makes sense.

It would probably not have been until today that I heard anything either.. I have several groups related to the UK on FB though, and a lot of the participants are in the UK.

@teamfreak16 There are atleast two that are in London. I don't see one of them very often on here, but another I see quite a bit. I don't remember either of their usernames, it's a "know them by their avatar" deal. Perhaps some of the other users from the UK will know better how to get in touch with them, that is if it comes to that. I do hope they are all okay.

@ScribbledAdNauseum - There are quite a few Brits on here, aren't there. I hope they are all ok.

A terrorist attack in london resulting in several deceased and more injured. Using a knife and a vehicle. I've not... I'm stopping myself because I just looked at the time. It's 5 pm in the UK, I need to tune into the news.

The terrorists want to show that they are ready to kill more people. I am so sorry that this happened in the UK again so soon.

The thought that crossed my mind is that it's almost like a kick in the face to the police force. I know Manchester and Londor are two different towns / cities within the UK, but it's almost like a kick in the face to the police. They were already trying to get to the bottom of the terrorist ring in Manchester, now this happens.

@ScribbledAdNauseum There is no way the police can stop the terrorists. With all the refugees and the immigrants who came in in the past two years, they are all over Europe and it is impossible for the police of every country to stop them. It happened in France, in Sweden in Germany, always attacks with trucks, vans or cars, this is their strategy.

@LadyDuck I fully agree. It only takes a few to gain access and they will indoctrinate others and teach groups how to manufacture devices. This way one terrorist can create a great number of such attacks.
