Now we are getting mail for this guy!

Remember when I talked about the package we got for this guy and how it ended up that he lived in Texas! Well we have now gotten a letter for him. It appeared as if it might have been medical in nature as well. I"m not sure as I didn't get a good look at it.
We will be writing a "return to sender" note on the envelope. I wonder if there is a way to notify the postal service / ups NOT to send us mail for this guy! It is inconvenient on our part, and I am sure on his as well.

We have occasionally gotten mail that should have gone to our neighbors, but this is the first time that it should've gone to an entirely different state.

It's possible that he has given his address incorrectly to one particular company, or their admin has formally filed the address incorrectly. Those computer systems can have minds of their own sometimes! It it were me and I knew his name and address I would pop a cheeky postcard in the post and let him know. :)

According to the United Parcel Service atleast, this guy lives in Texas. We live in North Carolina. If it were a matter of knowing his address, I wouldn't hesitate to send a little note along to let him know.

@Poppylicious Oh well I did say that, and I did think it was. I looked it up though, and couldn't find anything real similar in Texas. The street name was similar (though in Texas it had a space between the two words) but the numbers were all off. our street number are in the thousands and the street numbers in Texas are in the seven thousands.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Sorry, I thought you said in an earlier post that his houses number and street were the same? I thought that if you know that and the state and his last name, it might be easy to find! :)

@ScribbledAdNauseum .......Odd. Hope you and the mail service can get it figured out. My ex had a double living here. Same name and same city.

Agreed. It does have me questioning whether the UPS was telling me the truth about (the package) supposed to have gone to Texas...
Now the USPS is sending stuff for the guy. We have a guy by that name who has a dentistry in the village near us. His last name is hyphenated with another though...

You can return it to the sender, but as he pays to send you a mail there is no way to tell the postal service to not do a job already paid. If it happens several times he might perhaps be sued for harassment : read your local laws.
Reading your comment to @Corbin5 i understand that he was the previous owner. In this case, the postal service should not deliver mails not intended to you, and you can complain to them each time it happens. Write them a letter to complain.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You should perhaps tell it to your local police. Can someone get a package in your mailbox ? An usual internet scammer technique for those playing with stolen credit card data is to have their packages sent to a mailbox where they can get them. They chose a multiple dwelling or an abandoned house for that most of the time.

@topffer I suppose someone COULD get a package in our mailbox. The trees in our yard make it difficult to see the mailbox.
In this, however, I am more apt to believe it is some sort of error with the postal services. The package was medical in nature, and the envelope looked to be the same.
According to the UPS the package should have gone to Texas, I am in North Carolina, several states away.

When I responded to @Corbin5 I was responding to their situation. My family has owned this home from the very beginning, nobody else has ever owned it.
We previously received a package for him, and when contacting the United Parcel Service to get it picked up, found that it was intended to go to Texas. The person who sent the package is a third party. The package was intended for A fellow by the last name of Nifong.
The letter that came yesterday came from the United States Postal Service, but was addressed to this same guy.
I honestly don't understand how two different institutions can get an address wrong.
The USPS has a four digit code that corresponds with our particular area. For instance, my zip code is 27103 and the four digit code for the USPS use is 6101.
That four digit code, as far as I understand, corresponds with my area and so our mail goes to the post office that delivers to this area.

All you can do is Return to Sender. Not at this address.

I am hoping there is some sort of block we can do for anything addressed to the guy? Of course I don't know how the mail is sorted and maybe it is impossible the more I think about it.

We don't have a previous owner. My family has always owned this place.

It sure is inconvenient. One time we had a package delivered but it's for another address on the other side of town. We messaged the receiver on Facebook and she got ahold of UPS. UPS called us and we left the package in our front porch where they picked it up for re-delivery. That one time deal is okay but if it's any like yours that's repetitive I'm sure it is also frustrating. I would do the same - leave it in the mailboxes with "return to sender" on the envelope.

I am just hoping that this will be the last of it. If we keep getting things then I am going to contact the post office about it.
Like I was telling topffer, I don't understand how this happened anyway.
