It Is Done

This morning I went by my "old" school and met with the Principal to deliver my resignation letter. She handled it well and didn't get upset at all.
She told me she wasn't expecting me to leave, but didn't act too surprised. She said she was happy for me and wished me well.
I am glad to have that behind me as I leave for my camping trip this weekend. It would have been a weight on me had I waited to do it next week that I no longer have to bear.

I am glad you didn't have to wait till Monday to deliver your resignation letter. Now you can enjoy your camping trip without that extra baggage.

I think you are correct. She knows there is a morale problem among public school teachers and each year more are leaving the profession and fewer young people are choosing teaching as a career. If something is not done to change the atmosphere in public schools, the government may have to institute a teacher draft.

I didn't realize you were leaving your job. Have you decided what to do now? Best wishes to you.

Yes a big relief! Was this the same lady that told you your class was not progressing and that your time was limited?

@andriaperry She's not really like that most of the time. I think she is under a lot of pressure to bring test scores up and because of that she put more pressure on teachers than she was really comfortable with. For most of the twelve years I worked with her, she was really supportive. Only in the last year or so had that started to change as the state and federal pressure mounted and test scores became the single most important thing in public education.

@DWDavis I reckon she thought you would stay and be her slave, let her belittle you and you take it.

At least everything went well as planned.
Yes, it would be a burden if the resignation letter is not accepted or, if the principal is hesitant to accept it.

It's always best to do unpleasant things right away, The longer one waits the worse it gets. And it went better than expected. Great news!

Sometimes it is best just to get something like that over with.
