Day 296 Proverbs 28:11 Proverbs 28:11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searches him out. There are two kinds of wisdom – earthly and spiritual. Everyone knows at least one person who is wise in their own mind, and thinks of themselves as the go-to person in every situation because he has all the answers. To his or her mind they are indispensable and the world would fall apart if they didn’t lend their expertise to the situation. Then there are those who seek God’s wisdom and understanding in every situation. They do not deign to know everything, but seek God for the answers to the problems they face. Solomon differentiated them between rich and poor. He saw how rich people acted, having all the answers, and how the poor relied on God for their answers. As Christians, you know your answers come from Jesus Christ. You know that Jesus is the answer to every situation you face, and only in seeking him will you be able to understand what God would have you do. Let’s pray: Father, help me seek you in every situation I face. Do not let me go ahead of you, believing I know the answer, when it might not be the answer for the situation facing me.
