A photo I took with 35mm film years ago.

I found this shot in my archives. It was taken with a 35mm Nikon EM way back on one of those days when I was out chasing balloons in the early morning of our May balloon fest. I tried to get closer to the balloon but the road I was on didn't go that far dagnamit Happy 4th USA. Are you going on a picnic today? Whats on the menue?

That's a nice shot but I notice the balloon is on a low altitude and close to electric wires and transformers. Happy independence day.

I was at a higher elevation when I took this shot, the balloon was over a lower area and was being blown away from those power lines. We have many slopes here in this area and sometimes what seems to be low in a photo is actually not low if you can see the slope, sadly this shot did not show that.

@rebelann _Good to know nothing untoward happened. Too bad those power lines got in the way of what could have been a great photo shot.

That's a shame, I hope he gets to come home early. I remember when dad was overseas and mom would let us fry our hotdogs over a flame, she supervised of course and I was at least 12 by then but still it was such fun to put a hot dog on a long metal fork and cook it all by myself.

I'm cleaning house (trying to get some independence from clutter ). I remember the old 35mm days. I still have my Pentax K1000 that I bought at the Navy Exchange in Norfolk in 1981. I don't know if it still works or not, though....

I got my Nikon about the same time but now I can't find the ASA100 film I always liked to use, do they even sell film anymore? I hope you get a handle on the clutter, I'm not even gonna try .... heck no one here cares, all they want is treats

For some inexplicable reason I actually forgot that yesterday was US Independence Day. This must be the first time in the past 60 years that I did not realise.

Wow, I'm impressed, I wouldn't have expected anyone outside the USA to actually care one way or another let alone actually remember so often.

I thought the same thing, I've stopped chasing the balloons because I don't really know where they moved our balloon fest to. That's ok, I'm not much for being out and about at 5 am anymore.

It's been a long time since I've seen hot air balloons floating overhead. I used to see them all the time. It was always so much fun watching them all drifting slowly up in the sky! I will admit, I've never seen a patriotic hot air balloon before!

They come around once in a while but because it's so windy so often here it's not really that safe to fly them. Some have actually landed in the middle of streets because they were flying too low and could have hit a power line.

I think the only time I see them around here is if the winds blow them in and usually they're flyin so low that they almost hit the powerlines @moffittjc I really don't think they're all that safe.

@rebelann I think it's rare to see them here in Florida anymore because our state has become so populated. Growing up, Florida was still mostly undeveloped, so there was lots of open space for hot air balloons to take off and land from. Nowadays, it's nothing but houses and urban sprawl everywhere you go.

@rebelann You're welcome. No, I choose carefully and everything was delicious. We grill most of our meals weather permitting, anyway.
