More Information About Death Right now there are several discussions here on myLot about death. Opinions vary greatly, so I thought I would offer my TWO-CENTS worth. Over thousands of years, the subject of why humans die has been pondered. Here is a link that might be interesting to some. I found it very informative myself.
Death is an enemy. Egyptian Pharaohs and Chinese emperors wanted what we want?—to conquer death. The Bible says eternal youth & victory over death are possible!

Interesting link, thanks. Our body deteriorates, and also the mind, over time. I would rather leave in good time than linger. Many have preceded us and seem to be doing fine! So I have no desire to prolong my life creating misery for me and others too - siva

I agree with you completely. We have a life span that everyone is fighting to extend but now we see the results--Alzheimer's, organ disease, and other miseries. But still we fight to live even when miserable. I don't understand it. 80 year olds get organ transplants that younger people could benefit from so that they can have a couple more years of life. It makes no sense. I'm 63 and ready to go when it's time, I've had a life and it's time to move on soon.

@dragon54u Frankly, I know my future will be downhill compared to what I have been used to in physical body terms and no pleasure to live those years. I want to go when there is no more quality to my life and have to depend on others however much they try to ease my discomfort. Few of my relatives are almost bedridden for years and it is indeed tough for them as well as for their caregivers. I know those who are on dialysis for years and that is just tough. I saw one video where one got the initial diagnosis of dementia and he opted for euthanasia as it was legal in his country (Holland). He saw first hand how his mother went through that phase and he came to the conclusion it was not worth to prolong his life. Agreed that is extreme, but still why try to prolong beyond a stage of no return to some quality in life. My father, a respected medical professor, stopped his medicines when he decided to let go of his life as he said it was just pointless - siva

Yes, I agree. I don't want to "linger" and cause my family grief. So, the "best that I can hope for is to die in my sleep." That's actually the words to a song. (The Gambler) Kenny Rogers. Have you ever heard that song?

The bad part is @IreneVincent is that everybody thinks they will go to heaven after they die. According to Jehovah Witnesses, only 144,000 will go to heaven. There will be however a hope for some that will be chosen to try again on Earth. If they screw up, they're gonners as Satan will be released upon them for 1,000 years. Those that are able to remain faithful to Jehovah will live in peace on Earth forever.

Actually, Satan will be released, for a short time, AFTER a 1,000 years of being confined in the abyss. I'm sure this is what you meant. He won't be given another 1,000 years to do evil. Revelation 20:1-3 says "He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years. And he hurled him into the abyss and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not mislead the nations anymore until the 1,000 years were ended. After this, he must be released for a little while."

Partaking in the immense feast that nature provides so unselfishly is my blessing and reward. I try to value add in my own way and really do not bother about where I end up if at all. I believe in karma - reap what I sow - so my actions are borne on that awareness - siva
