Bye Bye Miss Overpriced Pie

Spectrum is gone. I turned on my TV and they turned the connection off. So I'm down to online (which they want $106 a month for) from them.
That will last until Friday, when AT&T will be out to install internet service for $45.
I listen to Cincinnati Reds games while I'm in my car, and they have an ad for Cincinnati Bell (CBTS, a major sponsor of Reds games). It's pretty funny: a voice-over actor is trying to do an ad for Spectrum, and he begins by saying "Time-Warner." The director stops him and reminds him they've changed their name. So he goes through a few more flubs, including the fact that their internet isn't as fast as CBTS' speed.
At the end of the commercial the guy wonders what to say that's truthful about Spectrum in the commercial. "Oh, I know," he says, then gets his "big voice-over announcer voice" going and says:
Spectrum. We're still basically Time-Warner.
I'll miss you, Spectrum....like a kidney stone.
Here's Talking Heads, not singing about overpriced television....

Because only the dance mix was up there. I know the picture is too old for this song. Shaddap about it.

We don't have cable....
I pay fifty bucks a month to Verizon for my cell bill, get 5gb of high speed included And roll over and just use my hotspot.

I have digital cable and I love it. It is expensive but I figure we don't go to movies or any other type of entertainment so I feel it is justified. We also have Netflix and Hulu. The latter is great and I have had it for years. Hulu is okay and mostly tv stuff. I watch it for their original shows and they have some oldies I like to watch.
I hope AT&T is good to you.

I bet they are still basically Time Warner: the worst service ever! Thanks to Spectrum, I don't get to see the Dodgers because I have Direct. The Dodgers are partially to blame for this stalemate but Spectrum wants to charge every customer over $5 a month for the Dodger channel which is extortion as something like only 5% of households in the LA metro area are actually interested in the Dodgers. Direct won't give in after being burned by the Lakers network. Everyone pays $5 for those tanking losers no one watches.

And you know the curiously funny thing about this? Usually when you call a company (any company) and say you want to cancel, they start pulling out the deals. I'm sure everyone's had that happen: "if you're paying too much, we can offer you a special deal if you'll stay with us." That did not happen with Spine Warnya. It's almost like they're saying, "We're going to keep these outrageous prices until we have no customers left."
One of the biggest things going today is "cutting the cable cord," and with things like Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Hulu, and all the others (not to mention being able to buy annual subscriptions to channels, just like I did with MLB.TV), cable is soon going to be a thing of the past. Direct TV and Dish have recognized this and are now offering low-price online streaming (Direct TV Now and Sling, respectively). Speckle-trum is apparently holding out with this, "Oh, you need us, so we can charge you out the wazoo" mentality. It reminds me of a Robert Klein joke about oil companies: "they say it's 'supply and demand.' Yes, 'we have all the supply so we can demand whatever the hell we want!'"
But in this case, Spectrum does not have all the supply.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I hate cable companies. We dumped Comcast a couple years ago.
