I Really Don't Like My Washing Machine

I thought that I was going to like it. I certainly looked at them enough times, but the price was just a little too steep so I kept what we had. So in case you are wondering... I'm talking about the front loading machines. The previous owners left their washer and dryer with the house and that is what we got for our money. What I didn't realize is that once you start the machine, you can't add anything more to the washer. How many times have you found one more item to toss in and you open the lid and in it went. Not happening with this machine. But that isn't what I dislike the most about it. It's the bending over to put things in and take things out... IT KILLS YOUR BACK! Yeah... I'm not 20 any more :(

And that explains why so many people go to the expense of a pedestal for their washer and dryer.

That could be it... because it really sits low on the floor! It's definitely being sold with the house when we leave lol. Hope that the new owners will be short!!

I didn't get the pedestal when I purchased my front loading washer and dryer and I wish I had. Bending to load and unload is back breaking

@Marilynda1225 I feel your pain... literally. What annoys me is that they make the machines that way on purpose!!

At least it works and it's just the placement of the door that I don't like. Maybe if it was up on a pedestal, it would have been better!

The 90% of the washing machines sold here are front load and the dryer is on top of the washing machine. As I use this kind of machines since the day I got married I have the habit to check carefully what I have to wash before to load, I know that it is not possible to add things later.

I think not being able to add things later is right up there with having to bend over to take items out! It's a killer for your back!!

@Hate2Iron I suffer of back pain, but taking out the laundry from my machine is not a problem. I suffer more standing for a long time.

I'm not sure if there is a pause button... but there certainly is enough of them, so I will have to take a look. I guess that I didn't bother because of the water spilling out??

Washer here is not mine either and now I have made friends with it and I clean it out every month too.
Its a very noisy front loader and I can only put it on when everyone is awake.
It makes a right racket I can tell you.

I have a front loader too and the bending is too much for my back. I thought I'd like it but nope.

The dryer that came with our washer was a front loader, but the heating element is out, and its WAY too expensive to fix, so we stick to line drying. Which I'm not exactly complaining about because the front load ones kill my back, and Im only 27.
