In case you missed it today Rafael Nadal will not be playing in the finals. Either will Angelique Kerber from Germany.
Rafael Nadal went down to defeat to Journeyman Gilles Muller in 5 sets 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 13-15. Nadal down by two sets rallied but in the end could not overcome the early deficit. The match lasted almost 5 hours. Rafa has struggled on grass the last number of years, having not reached the quarterfinals since 2011. Such a heartbreaking loss after such a spirited comeback. I was hoping Rafa could make the finals, now only Murray, Federer and Djkovic are left from the Big 4.
Garbine Muguruza of Spain defeated the # 1 seed Kerber 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 which may not have been as big a surprise considering the German has not beaten anyone in the top 20 this year. Muguruza is 5-0 lifetime against Kerber now so she definitely is comfortable playing her.
Things are looking very good for Venus Williams to make the final as she goes against 20-year old phenom Jelena Ostapenko next.
Andy Murray has the easiest path to make the finals, while Federer must beat both Milos Raonic, the big server from Canada, and if he wins probably Djkovic in the semis.
My Lot Tennis fans who are your picks to win? I'm going with Djkovic and Muguruza.

Why not. He is such a graceful player to watch and such a competitor. One of kind for sure!

Nadal is never as good on surfaces other than clay.

Although he has won slams at all the Majors, clay is definitely his best surface. Still, a shocking loss the way he was playing going in to the tournament.

I saw that. Five hours of tennis? And a final set that went 28 games? Nadal needs a month to rest!

He does, but as they say, you should of seen the other guy! At least he has a day to rest up before his next match.

I can't stand Djokavic. I'll take Federer or Murray.

Not my favorite either. If I was wagering though, he would be my pick.

Of course I wished that Kevin Anderson could have gone further in the tournament, but Sam was too strong for him. I am thinking Djokovic too or maybe a very determined Roger Federer. It would be amazing if Venus could win it again too @dgobucks226 .

@dgobucks226 she really is an awesome player and I can see her doing that too
. Roger is simply awe inspiring. Yes, Kevin can play quite well, I just wish he could make it further in Wimbledon than he has managed to do thus far.

I really think Venus is going to win. I think she wins the final in 3 sets. After today's results I can't see Roger losing. I have followed K. Anderson's results this year, he is doing very well.

I haven't looked at the draws, is it possible Federer and Djkovic could play each other? That's so sad about Rafa. I was looking forward to seeing him play.

@dgobucks226 I wonder why Murray gets the easy path. Do you spose it's because he's British? It is Wimbledon, after all.

@blitzfrick Very interesting as a TV personality once said back in the 60's.
I would assume they do it on current world ranking and past performance at Wimbledon. But it's not good to make assumptions so I'll say its an educated guess instead.

Murray is the top seed as has the easiest path to the final. Yes, Federer could play Djkovic in the Semis.

i feel so sad. i was able to watch Rafa's practice before his game last night, and i was confident he will win the match. when i woke up, i checked on my phone and read in my big brother's status post about how annoyed he was because the matches of Federer and Rafa were in different BBC channels, and worse, Rafa lost in 5 sets.
i was disappointed, but maybe he is still feeling some knee joint pain that hindered him from playing good on grass.

Possibly, he has not played well on grass the last few years. I think he just had a bad match. It happens, and his opponent played very well.

Oh man, I was counting on Nadal to win the series. That's bad. Really bad. But there's Djkovic which is also good, if he wins!
