Day 306
Proverbs 28:27
Proverbs 28:27 He that gives unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hides his eyes shall have many a curse.
Every city, at least in the United States, has organizations to help the poor and needy. There are also donation envelopes sent in the mail at Christmas looking for special help during the holidays. The Salvation Army also has bell ringers to bring attention to the need for the poor with their red kettles. It doesn’t take much to find ways to help in your community.
Solomon showed that those who helped the poor would never see lack, however, those who turned away from the needs of the poor would see trouble.
God made it a law to help the poor.
Deuteronomy 15:7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God gives thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wants.
9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him naught; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou give unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou put thine hand unto.
11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
Even Jesus, before his crucifixion told the disciples there would always be poor people, when the woman poured ointment on him.
Matthew 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. (KJV)
Most people don’t think of it as a command, or law to help the poor. Yet God says it’s a sin if you don’t. He also said you will be blessed in everything you do, when you give to the poor.
Now does that mean you are just to help everyone who has their hand out? If a person is capable of working, and has no impairment that would keep him from doing work, then you are to help them, but if they can work, they are to work and not seek handouts.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. (KJV)
God looks at your heart and your abilities when it comes to the poor. So, the next time you see an opportunity to give to the poor and needy, give and God will bless you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me open my hand to the poor and give as you commanded. Then your hand of blessing will be on my life in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Most if them give only to get blessings not from heart. I don't like this kind of giving. But I can see only such kind of people these days

@just4him I attended a prayer meeting, they were collecting funds for church building, when the head of the church asked them to donate, none of them stood up , but when they said God is going to give twice the amount which they are going to donate now.. maximum people stood up. ,That was so sad. .

@prashu228 That's not the way God's blessing works. Though it is necessary for the people to fund a church building.
