My Internship is over...

Today was my last day. I was supposed to have an event at 12:15 pm but the lady from the YMCA called to tell me that the instructor wasn't going to be able to make it. Her husband just had open heart surgery this week so she hadn't even been into work at all. It was kind of a bummer but I understand that things like this happen. At least she had the common decency to call and let me know instead of just not showing up like the last guy did. I only needed a minimum on 80 hours for it to count at my college as being completed but I finished out with exactly 99 hours. If I had my event today it would have been 100 hours. I am just glad that I got the 80 I needed because for awhile it seemed like I was going to make it. I turned in my last time sheet to my supervisor at 11 am and she informed me that she had to request my check and it should arrive sometime next week. Sadly I will be at the beach all next week, so it is up to my parents to look out for it and for my mother to put it in my account for me. I was hoping to have it before we left for the beach but oh well. If I don't have it while I am there then I won't spend it on things I don't need. My supervisor has already told me that she is going to give me a good evaluation because I worked so hard even if others didn't want to respond. She even gave me her cell phone number and told me to feel free to use her as a reference for anything in the future. It was fun and I loved the kids that I worked with at the YMCA but I am glad that the stress of completing it is over. Now I have 2-weeks and 3 days left before I move back in for my senior year of college and start my training as a peer ally.

So am I. I was struggling at the beginning because all of my volunteer places were dragging their feet to get back to me. It took me almost 3 weeks to get just 15 hours in.

Thank you. I understand why this instructor couldn't make it and she was still professional about it and called me two days in advance so I had time to let everyone else know. She did my first event for me and she was great. She told me that she would love to still do them in the future and she wasn't just trying to get out of it. She said to keep her supervisor update with available days and she would try to make it out as soon as she could.
