Day 316 Proverbs 29:18 Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he. Every company has a mission statement – the vision for their company. When people know the vision statement for the place they do business or work, they know what to expect and can determine whether that place of business would be a good place to do business or work. God’s vision was written in stone, called the Law of Moses. God charged every king to read the law daily and be familiar with God’s requirements for his people. Solomon saw the hope God instilled in his law and knew that without that hope, that vision, the people would perish. Do you have a mission statement for your life? It doesn’t need to be lengthy, just a few words, such as Joshua uttered when he asked Israel to choose who they would follow – the gods of the countries they went to war against or God. Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (KJV) Many people have that saying on a plaque in their home, but for how many is it a reality? You can say you serve him, but how many of the world’s ways tempt you to compromise your mission statement? Technology has opened the door to so many forms of entertainment that it can cause harm to your Christian walk. As Christians, you are to keep your minds free of what the world offers, and keep your mind on Jesus Christ and his vision for you. Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. God’s way lead to salvation. God’s vision statement declares his love for us and his desire that no one perish. God’s mission statement points the way to salvation. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV) God’s Word is his mission statement, his vision for all those who call on his name and accept his Son, Jesus, as Savior and Lord. Have you read his mission statement? Have you called on his name? Is Jesus your Savior and Lord? If not, you can make him your Savior and Lord today. Let’s pray: Father, let your vision be my vision, your mission statement my mission statement. Help me live my life according to your vision for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. I don't have as many issues with people who are not saved as I do with Christians. People who don't know Jesus, I don't expect much from them as far as following God's Word is concerned. Thus, I expect Christians to be more civilized. I am trying to have my own mission statement or two. One would be to keep my mouth shut when I am disappointed in people.
