Hemocode

Most easily described as the intolerance of Pork in ones diet. Thats me! This week-end I had a terrible experience at Bowls where the catering staff said they had prepared Cottage Pie (Shepards Pie) which is generally made with minced meat . . . as I sat down to lunch and put a great big mound-full in my mouth (I was hungry), I recognized a taste which I dont normally tolerate. After I swollowed and being ever so discrete I scratched through the cottage pie, and to my surprise, I found big chunks of ham. I was very distressed and immediately confronted the caterer who had been given my dietary requirements before the day "NO PORK, NO FISH" I was very taken a back when she said "You have so many issues, I cannot keep up with your requirements!" Well, I cannot tell you on social media what transpired next, but I am very disappointed in my fellow club members to think that my PORK intolerance which leaves me with serious negative symptoms after eating pork or pork products, shows their callous mind toward me. Not to mention the TUNA sandwiches all over the tea table which are totally life threatening to me! Saturday was an eyeopener - from now on, I shall prepare my own meals to take with to Bowling, no matter where we play. Therefore, let it be known that I have HEMOCODE : "A food intolerance can either be a digestive food intolerance or an immune food intolerance. In the case of an immune food intolerance, a person’s body will exhibit an immune response after eating the offending food." Do you suffer from Hemocode as well - and what food?

Yes I do, I cannot even smell peanuts, they make me very sick. What they told you is incredible, not only rude but totally unacceptable.

@Inlemay People think we are picky, the reality is that some food can kill us, they are irresponsible.

So was it a case of bowls bowels trouble? Sorry to be irreverent but I couldn't resist!! I find some people's intolerance toward food intolerances extremely intolerable.

Luckily it was a puke before it became a bowels on the bowls incident

@MALUSE Probably more to do with the prospect of having a couple of days off work at the end of this week.

I had never heard of Hemocode before. I know about people being allergic to foods but this word brought out more meaning. I don't have any problems with any food, so far. My son can't eat onions. We would be taking him to the hospital if he ate any.

I'm sorry you had to experience that Lany, and that caterer was very rude. I'm lucky in that I have no intolerances, but there are loads of foods that I won't touch because I don't like them (or think I won't like them!)

I would write a letter to someone. And the server's comment sounds quite rude to me.

That is very bad indeed. I thought caterers would be very aware of the necessity of following dietary requirements. And I'm sorry your club members weren't more supportive.

@Inlemay It is downright dangerous to ignore dietary requirements. Do they think you are just being fussy? I find it hard to believe they could be so stupid and uncaring.

In the past I have had some unpleasant experiences with pork, but I seem to have outgrown it.
