Publishing a book is on my bucket list but I am not sure how I will find the time to do it. I have a couple started but a long way from finishing. Just wondering if there are any published authors out there and if you care to share some of your tips, what your book is about or secrets to writing and publishing. If you are like me, thinking of publishing a book please share what you are working on and your plans and tips.

I have had professional articles published but never a book. Many people here at myLot have experience on that.

I was going to suggest to @Freelanzer that she talk to you John, because I thought for sure you were a published author!

I started working on something but never finished. Hope to get started again. I joined a few publishing sites and they have some good templates and tools to help.

I only have articles published, but not books. I'd love to get tips from other published authors too so I might be following this thread!

I've published a few books and a few pieces of advice I would give is to 1) Find time to write. Even if it's just a few words, a little is better than nothing. 2) Write down any ideas you have for your story that way you won't forget them. 3) Do research on different ways to publish a book, whether it through a traditional publisher or self-publishing, it's best to get a feel of what to expect in the industry.

Great ideas. One I can try right away is writing a little at a time. That way it is less overwhelming. Thanks

@Freelanzer You're welcome :) That's the number one piece of advice all authors give. Just find the time to write.

Thanks. Good luck to you too. It would be great if you get those children's stories published. Go for it.

The best is to try and write every single day. Participate in NaNoWriMo that helps a lot. Set goals if that helps you, don't just think about publishing. The way to write is to write what you want, edit what you think other people would want, and publish the compromise.

Maybe you should have another look at those docs. Could be valuable.

I thought of writing in my 30s and 40s. I got some books somewhere (not published, in doc form) but I have given up the idea now. Just lose the interest with time...
