Daylilies, still

I was thinking about what to write, then looked out my front window. I thought there was a huge insect flying about my day lilies. Maybe a locust as it was a shiny iridescent green.
I was oh so wrong. . . I was visited by a hummingbird. He or she enjoyed the day lilies. I have never had any success with hummingbird feeders. I do not even try anymore. I had one visit that I saw in the thirty years I was at my last house. Here, it is only my second year. I am excited!!

Solitaire is a haven for birds and what you call hummingbirds must be visiting here. Are they tiny and have long beaks? And yes they hae shining bodies.
That lily has a beautiful red colour.

Yes, hummingbirds are very small, smaller than some moths. Their wings go very fast and make a slight humming sound. They have a long beak as they often feed on tubular flowers. Lots of varieties in the birds and they are fun to watch.

Well we do have the locusts/cicaidas right now, they do not bother me. Spiders, on the other hand make me anxious.

I enjoy it. They actually grow wild a lot around the roadsides here.

I don't think I saw a hummingbird recently. Did she or he come for those lilies.

Yes, it is a type of bird that feeds on the sweet nectar of flowers.

This plant has persisted this year. I may clean up after it, but the wild bunch in my backyard I will leave alone.
