What happened to my dime?

Lately I've been lucky and keep finding coins on the ground when I walk. Usually it's mostly pennies, but recently I've been finding dimes, nickles and even quarters. Pennies dominate though. Perhaps it's easier for people to drop pennies than other coins.
Yesterday, when I was crossing the street on my way to a restaurant for dinner, I found a dime on the ground. I chose not to pick it up because it was in the middle of the road. When I got to the restaurant, I regretted not picking up that dime, and told myself that on the way back I'd return to that street and grab it, if it was still there waiting for me.
After my delicious dinner, I went back to that street. As I was crossing it, I looked for my dime but didn't see it anywhere. It was when I turned around to go back the other way that I spotted it. I had to act fast because soon the light for the cars would turn green.
Feeling happy, I bent down to pick up my dime, only to find that it wasn't budging, which I found very odd. I bent down even more to look at the dime more closely. That's when I realized that it was in the ground, not on top of it.
I wasn't getting that dime, not unless I came back with a drill or some other gadget that would crack the asphalt and make that coin come out. So, I went home dimeless, but I was left with a funny memory I will never forget.

Thanks. It was a funny experience. There were a few times where I thought I saw a coin but when I knelt down to pick it up it turned out to be either stuck on gum or just a stain on the ground.
