What are you afraid of?

There are things in life that scare us. And then there are things we are afraid to do for one reason or another.
Here are some of mine:
I love nature, but when I see a bug or some other insect I scream and run away.
I want to drive but don't do it because I am afraid that the brakes will give out, I will not be able to drive in one lane, or something else will happen and I will end up in a car accident. And whenever I have dreams at night where I am behind the wheel, something always goes wrong and I get into a serious accident.
I am afraid of diving or going to the deep end of the pool or ocean. In part it has to do with the fact that I really don't know how to swim. I get tired very quickly. Also, I almost drowned once.
What fears do you have?
Is there anything you wanted to do in your life but were afraid to do it, for one reason or another?

I have that as well. One of the reasons I don't want to go back to school for a Masters degree.

I can't say that I am necessarily afraid of heights, but when my husband took me on the ferris wheel thing in Las Vegas I wasn't very excited about it. I wasn't all calm and cool inside, but the view was amazing and I don't regret going up. I am not sure how I got myself to actually get inside it. I was secretly hoping we would end up not going. I didn't move around a lot though. Mostly, I sat on the bench and held on to the railing...
And as for snakes, I prefer to watch them from a distance. If I saw a snake next to me I'd run away screaming.

I also have a strong fear of driving. I'm afraid of being in physical pain as I don't handle it well. And I'm afraid of losing my husband or my kids in any way.

@LovingMyBabies Same here. Though I can't say that being in the car with him I am always calm.

I am lucky that I live in NYC where there are a lot trains and buses to help me get around. I don't know what I'd do if I lived somewhere without a public transportation system.

I fear so many things... one is bats. And germs. Snakes.... oh! About car brakes? Not always, but usually they will only partially fail, leaving you enough stopping power until you can get them fixed, usually that is

That is an interesting fear. I think in part I have that as well.

@TheInvisibleMan I want to travel the world. I would love to record an album. Write another novel. Want to be a best-selling author. Want to finally land a job and one I will love and find rewarding. Just some of the things.

I hear that it's normal to be a little anxious, uncomfortable, or unsure behind the wheel when just starting out driving. That doesn't make me feel any better though.

This reminds of me when I was very much an adult and thought I wanted to get a bike to ride. I went with a friend that wanted to help me to the bike store and sat on a bike and thought what if I fall off the bike and really hurt myself. I froze and thought that I had a cat at home and I did not want to leave her without me. I decided not to get it afterall. I felt my bike riding days were over.
