Seeing as romance is a big topic with me (or lack of, rather) - I thought maybe my own personal weird luck would entertain you all as well.
I'm 35 and am finding this to be a hard age to meet other singles. Actually meeting other single people has always been sort of tough for me at any age, but particularly now. I figure that now is particularly tough because , in mid-30s a lot of people are married. Or, even if they're not married - it seems like a lot are in committed relationships. While I'm going to try and avoid making this a "poor me" posting - I will say that at times it feels like time has left me behind. But I digress.
So! Seeing as it is desperately hard for me to meet other singles - it is astonishing that recently I have met 2 single men. Of course, because of my luck - neither opportunity went anywhere.
1) An old classmate contacted me on Facebook and gave me his phone number. Said he would like to meet to catch up and promised he would text promptly. We texted for about a week, and when I broached the meet up in person topic, he promptly quit texting me. Well, I'm not going to beg... so happy trails.
2) I met a guy this winter actually , and we hung out a couple of times. It wasn't a date or anything. Well one day he invited me out to a bar he was at. When I got there he was there *with another woman*. He came over, said hi... but then promptly made it clear that he was with this other lady as they were hanging on each other. Well, why invite me out if you have someone that you're there with anyway? Oh well, yet again typical of my luck. He messaged me when I got home and I told him, essentially that it wasn't going to work out.
Typical my luck. Hopefully you got a few laughs out of it, too.
Sums up the topic nicely:
The first lady of Country Rock and California Rock, Ms. Linda was perhaps the most gifted, accomplished and versatile female vocalist of the late 20th centur...

I threw in the towel on dating years ago. Excellent choice of song. My favorite singer.

She has such a cool voice, strong and yet feminine. Eh, as much as I would like to meet someone -- it can be a lot of stress, compromise, strife... yeah. Maybe sometime someone awesome will roll along for both of us when we least expect it....

IT´s difficult to find a partner nowadays. I think that many men are afraid of women that have good jobs.

It's never too late you will eventually find some one that's for sure.

Thanks! I think you're right, and I would rather be with someone I really truly get along with, instead of someone who isn't entirely compatible, anyway, so I think the wait will be worth it

No, no laughs from me. That is sad. You deserve a nice man, to at least date for a bit if nothing more.

It usually seems to happen when you aren't trying, for some reason.

Hm that's interesting, probably so, too. Just like how I attract more positive attention when I have no make up and messy hair... lol it's weird

Aw, thanks. I am able to laugh -- this is my luck continually. Sometimes wondered if I'm hexed or something. But that's alright, it's ok to be single too :-) Thanks for your kindness

Faye, it's good you can laugh about it. There's really not an age limit for finding that special one. And I bet he'll surprise you when you least expect it!

Ah yes, thanks! At least I try and see the humor. With classmate, it's probably alright... we didn't have many common interests. And with the other one, I figure he must have asked a bunch of girls out, not thinking that 2 would come out and join him. Oh well, I would rather know that now about him. I hope you're right though... Someone will roll up somewhere unexpected...
