The Scientology Affair

Eversince I watched Leah Remini on Chelsea, I became quite obsessed with this so called "Church of Scientology". I have watched quite a few documentaries and each time I get angrier and angrier about the sufferings members had to undergo and endure because of this organization who took advantage of their faith. Today, I watched Leah Remini's A&E series, Scientology and the Aftermath. I knew the situation there was bad, but I never thought it could be that awful. It was taking dictatorship and manipulation to a whole new different level. I applaud her for doing this despite knowing that she is endangering her life and risking her career because of this work. I hope eventually, members will see that not only are they wasting their lives there, they are also inhibiting themselves to reach their maximum potential to be who and what kind of persons they can be. Religion or not, no one should ever be forced to disconnect with the people they love just because they no longer believe in it. That is their difference with other religions. In christianity for example, we are taught with the teachings of our church, but in the end, it is our choice to follow those and stay as parishioners, without the looming fear of losing our families if we leave. I would never wish this happening to anyone, even my to worst enemy. P. S. At the risk of offending anyone, I posted this in order voice out my thoughts and share to my fellow MyLotters how this cult is.

So have you seen the documentary, "Going Clear"? You probably have, but in case you haven't, this was one, I believe done by HBO, and people went nuts over it. Apparently, it was eye opening, but also maddening.

@JeeyanDee I don't think so. Incidentally, Leah Remini's show on A&E was just nominated for an Emmy award.

@AmbiePam It is actually nominated for two emmy awards I heard. The show deserves it, they have made known to us what truly is happening inside that billion dollar cult. They deserve nothing less than those emmy. I won't be surprised if they don't get it though. I bet that scientology would do their best and spend so much money for that not to happen.

I have read enough about this cult to know I would give it a wide berth. What I find most distressing is they survive by propaganda and they rarely let anyone leave their influence. A real religion allows freedom of choice and thought.

I agree! Distroying those people who remove themselves from them and those who speak agains them is just unethical.

Sounds very controlling and full of manipulation. I have heard of this religion since the break up of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, then later, Tom Cruise and his next wife, Katie Holmes.

I believe it is a cult but just with higher standards and popularity because of the celebrity members
