Two or three hours after dinner

When is the best to have dinner, 2 or three hours after dinner? Is it fine, if we sleep immediately after having dinner? Why are we strongly recommended to allow 3 hours after dinner, then we are safe to go to bed?

We need to have at least 2-3 hours gap between dinner and sleep depending upon the type of food we ate. The food should be completely or at least partially digested by the time we sleep.

You mean by the time we sleep food stops being digested?

@yanzalong The body is digesting food as soon as you start eating and then without gap if you try to sleep, you won't get sleep. As the body is busy digesting food. And it is not recommended. There is even an old saying, After a meal, walk a while :)

Because food has to be fully digested or you might die.

We usually take our dinner at 7pm and kids sleep by nine pm and i go to sleep at 11pm.
