Ticks

I don't know if all countries have them, but here we have an annoying pest called a wood tick.  This is a blood sucking insect which will attach itself to you.  There are many varieties, but around here the most common types are the common wood tick (alright, I don't know if that's it's official name, however it is about the size of  a single pea) and then there is the deer tick.  The later of which being much smaller and scarier as deer ticks can carry Lymes disease.  I have never, that I've known of , encountered a deer tick, but I have encountered many a "regular" tick.  I have been pretty good about spraying myself down with bug spray when I go to garden - where there is lots of tall grass, so that is why it mystifies me that I will on occasion find a tick - just crawling around the house.  Usually these pests attach themselves to your skin, where you must remove them by carefully pulling, using a lighter, or rubbing essential oils on the point of attachment.    I am happy they're not on me, but I wonder why they have come in the house.   For the record I drop them in the sink and burn them with a lighter.  What is the most annoying pest in your region? Here is a link to a humorous song on the topic:

Oh boy, ticks are up there with mosquitoes in annoying and here not far from us mosquitoes carry malaria. I don't know how ticks get in but I also burn them and for mosquitoes I spray a mixture of stuff. And we're heading to Spring, eek.

@FayeHazel , yes, mosquitoes seem to love me too, ick. Luckily we're still a malaria free area for now. Yes, spring and fall are my favourite seasons, though I can understand you would prefer to be heading into spring too.

Oh that is scary. Ticks can be somewhat more of a rarity... but I get frequent mosquito bites. Ah. Lucky you from spring though. I love spring. We are heading to fall here

Rats you say? WOw. I have only ever seen 1 rat (that wasn't in a pet store) and that was in Chicago when I went to visit.

We have ticks in Australia and there is a great debate going on about whether they carry Lymes disease or not. I guess one day they'll work it out.

It would be nice if they didn't carry disease. I know that has been a concern of mine

I've never had to deal with a tick, which is odd with all the mountain biking I've done over the years.

We don't really have ticks over here. We do have lots of mosquitoes which carry diseases too. We have to take lots of precautions during summer.

I saw wood ticks when I went to the US as a child, in the woods of Wisconsin. Here, at some time in the summer, dogs get ticks.

We had a dog when I was little -- I am thankful that it wasn't my job to pull ticks off of the dog lol

I get all itchy thinking about ticks. I had one on my arm earlier this year and just about lost my mind. I am a camper and mostly the bugs don't bother me but ticks make my skin crawl.
