Sensitivity -- Empathy -- and Compassion: What's Your Opinion?

Do you consider yourself to be an empath? Or, do you consider yourself to be (simply) a compassionate person, who is highly sensitive in nature?
What is your insight, regarding sensitivity, empathy, and compassion; and can you share your experience, regarding being of a sensitive nature, along with the plusses of that nature?
Who knew, there is a science behind it all?

I would consider myself a person who is empathic not an empath. I do not have the intuitive sensitivity nor am I a nurturer by nature. When I can see openly someone is in distress I can put myself in that person's place and be sensitive to their suffering. Very interesting post!
