I was in school. We had the case colloquium for level 3 last Tuesday, and level 4’s last Friday.
We compared the number of students from the years 2006 to 2012, where there were hundreds of 3rd year and 4th year students, and having cluster A and cluster B in each year level, from Monday to Wednesday (cluster A), and Thursday to Saturday (cluster B). The numbers of clinical preceptors attending the case presentations were more than a dozen.
When we had the case colloquium last Tuesday, it was so disheartening that there were only less than 15 students as critics, and only 2 clinical instructors joining them. I was one, and the other was Ms. CC.
Yesterday, we were 5, but the only male colleague was just there physically because he was busy making his own work as a full-time instructor. (He was preparing the examination of the level 4 students.) The students were less than 25.
Our first year students are about 30; second year is about 20, so we can still have 2 more years. I hope there will be 1st year again, which we doubt because of the K to 12 educational system.

@ridingbet that happens all the time. There is one popular job and students go ahead and take it up. By the time they have graduated, the market has been saturated and the demand isn't the same as before.

yes it is. and even though there are many graduates of nursing, the demand is not equal to the supply. that is why there are many nursing graduates who end as call center agents, for example.

@allen0187 i agree. but it is good there are other fields of nursing that one can apply to, like BFP, army, marines, office nurse, or company nurse. some are also into teaching.

yes it is hard, but when you get the feeling of it, you will enjoy it actually.

I once wanted to be an instructor in college in our place but I decided not to because I learned it requires lots of time.

thank you. the clinical instructor who is standing is a critic of the level 2 students, and she just dropped by to tell us that we should have our lunch at 12 noon.
our school is the 'catch basin' for those who have not reached the average grade of the 2 private universities here in my city. we have 83% cut-off average while the 2 colleges have 85%. when our students get lower than 83%, they can transfer to another college of nursing that has an 80% cut-off average.
