This is continued from my discussion yesterday, when my husband just drove off. He did not get far, about ten miles. Then he realized he had no pens in his pocket. So he came home, gathered all of his things and headed back to work. It was a good thing, as he was needing to put fuel in his car to make it home, or even to work, and he had no wallet, debit card or anything to do so. At work he found the rock in the picture. I will post the other side in a comment. Evidently this is a fun community activity for all ages, painting rocks. I know of several places that do so. I am off now for a little while but believe me, I will be back.

That rock thing is big around here, not sure I understand what it's all about.

I think the idea of the rock thing is to get people out into the community. Kind of like geo caching or scavenger hunting, or even Pokemon go but without technology. People go out and about in their community and learn about it. The rocks are supposed to be cute, fun, decorative or have an inspiring message. You do not have to have a computer or be a grown up, just paint a rock and hide it.

I've heard about people leaving rocks for others to find after they've decorated them. I look forward to hearing more about it.

glitter gold McPherson Rocks
Many communities are doing this. This site suggests paints to use and how to seal it afterwards. When you find one you report it in the community group and hide it again. If it is special to you, then you may keep it. Not a lot of rules. The purpose is to connect people and provide positive things to do and creative outlets. This is the other side of the rock.

Check for a FB group. Type your city or area "rocks". Like for my city would be Florence Rocks, but there could also be a Marion County Rocks.

I suspected he would have realized he had forgot everything at home. No rocks mania for the moment in this side of the world.

I would not be surprised if you eventually got the rock fever.

@GardenGerty I remember the rocks sold in stores with a name and birth date, we never had that rock fever and I do not believe we will get this one.

Good thing he discovered he was missing his things before he got too far! That could have been bad otherwise.

He would have just barely made it to work and been out of gas with no way to fuel up. I am glad he did not get far.
