What is Considered Beautiful in Your Place?

The standard of beauty differs in every race and culture. In my country, we consider women beautiful if she has fair and flawless skin, athletic but with feminine curves and not to forget the high nose. Same with males, except of course the wide shoulders, and atheletic and muscular body.
How about in yours?

I think my discussion was misunderstood by most here. I myself don't care about the physical attributes of people, nor judge anyone by how they look because that is stupid and immature, plus I don't want to be judged that way too. I just wanted to know the standards of beauty in every country, nothing more. You cannot deny the fact that every society has their standard of beauty and no place has exactly the same. I agree though that yes, a good personality is attractive, that is not the point of my discussion though.

@JeeyanDee Yes, here we prefer to have big eyes rather than small ones. And double eyelids are better than one eyelid. Some people who have one eyelid even will have the surgery to make it as double

Big eyes? Hmmm. What is good figure in your definition because that really varies from place to place. Please enlighten me.

That might have some effects but not the main focus of what is considered attractive here. How about in your place?

Where abouts are you located? I'm in mid-central Minnesota. Here I think the standard is similar - thin, but full chested - for men it's the "muscle man" 6-pack abs look. That said... thankfully there is a big push for body positivity. The idea that no one body should be the beauty standard.

@TheHorse I've often wondered why that is being promoted. I wouldn't want to hang out with someone dour faced (who couldn't join me in a proper meal)... same with those ken-doll - esqu guys. I mean that's cool and all -- but with the amount of effort it must take to look like that, do they have time to develop as a person?

@JeeyanDee Nope it did not offend me, I just expressed myself that looks should not matter, that's all :)
No need to apologise :)

I agree of course, but you cannot deny the fact that in every culture, we have our own standard of beauty. You can never say that everyone in your place is considered attractive, can you? I, myself don't judge anyone by how they look because well, that is stupid and immature, plus I don't want that done to me too. I also think that everyone knows that in every society, there is a standard of beauty, and that is what I want to know.

@vsai2008 Oh my gosh, that is extremely awful. I am sorry if my discussion has offended you, that is not my aim though. It was just a curiousity that entered my mind, then shared here.

@NoorNoor I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by perfect height and weight though. Care to explain further?

Even people in the same place have different perceptions of what is beautiful. I personally don't give much attention to the physical attribute of the person but rather on their general well-being. Yes, sometimes we admire someone that has a nice skin and perfectly shaped body, but the admiration can sometimes vanish once we see the real character.

Of course I agree that one should never be judged by the way they look. I think you misunderstood what I meant though. I was just curious about the standard of beauty in every country or society, nothing more.

For me it's the person they are. I am not concerned with how they look. I am old and wrinkled and I don't care. I am loved for who I am not what I look like. I know for many looks are everything but at the end of the day it's a pretty trivial thing.

What I consider is beautiful here in Jerusalem is just taking a look around at our history and know that I go where my ancestors were. Just sitting and looking at how beautiful Jerusalem is makes me smile. I have a very special feeling for this city of gold.
