A rainy apple peeling day

It was all rain and clouds today so I didn't even get a glimpse of a partial eclipse in my part off the world. However, It was a great opportunity to stay indoors and peel and process all the apples I have been picking daily. Peeling, slicing, blanching, freezing, applesauce and apple jelly making. The smell of apples is all over the house. Soon they will be all gone but I will have apples in some form or the other for a year.

I have two apple trees - planted one and the other was already here when we moved in many years ago.

@Freelanzer I can deal with two I guess. Your apples are big. Some of my relatives' apples are very small, don't know why (they planted from seeds of a giant fruit!).

@YrNemo The one apple tree I was purchased when it was a skinny shrub and I guess the other one was too. But the longer they are around the bigger the fruits get

I wish the store still had my apples in season. Apples with peanut butter sound good to me right now.

Sorry you missed the eclipse. We watched it on TV. Those apples sound delicious. I love the smell of cooking apples.

@Freelanzer Oh and don't forget the cinnamon smell as well. I am making myself hungry thinking about it. I might go see if we have any apple butter for some toast.

I have never known that apples can be processed in so many ways.Where I live isn't the apple growing area. I just eat an apple with peel on each day .It is said that its peel has lots of nutrients.

@changjiangzhibin89 Yes it is a bumper year for apples. I am picking a bucket a day from just one tree.

Last winter, I came across a recipe for making homemade apple sauce in the crock pot. I spent hours peeling apples, but the smell of apples and cinnamon wafting throughout the house was just amazing and worth all the work I put into making the applesauce.
Oh, and that homemade apple sauce turned out delicious!

@Freelanzer Haha, yeah, but I want to wait until late in the Fall. It just seems like that's the right time to make it! In the meantime, I have an apple cinnamon Yankee candle that I can light to tease me with that heavenly aroma!

@Freelanzer He can sit down and eat almost the entire pie in one sitting. He will eat all the ice cream too. He isn't even fat at all. He seems to never gain weight no mater how much he eats.

No I never made apple butter just pies, jelly, jam and applesauce and also dried apples

Perhaps my children could bring the apples to my grave for me when the trees began to have fruit?)
