Movie review for "Nerve".    "Nerve" is a high powered action drama about kids who start playing this online game called "Nerve".   There are players and there are watchers.  The most popular player wins.  Players do crazy pranks for popularity votes and for cash prizes.  Watchers direct the dares that the players get and the players the popularity votes that they desire.  Players fall away when the fail their dares, or if they bail on their dares. At first the game begins innocently enough - fairly innocent "dares".  As the games go on - the "dares" get more and more dangerous - the more danger is involved the more the player has the potential to earn and the more views they get.  However the dares soon tread into the life threatening area.  Our main character, a girl named Vee - tries to put a stop to it, but the "Nerve" network finds out.  They punish Vee.  They tell her that they have control of financial information for her and her mom and they know where they both live.  The only way they'll stop is if Vee wins this round of "Nerve".  Is there a way out?  Is there a way to shut down the game ?  You'll have to watch and see.  Alright so - the characters were a little annoying --  the popular girl best-friend.  The main character selling out her friend by telling her secrets online, etc. Actually a word that comes to mind is underdeveloped characters.... but in all this is a pretty solid movie.  Trailer:
Are you a watcher or a player? Starring Emma Roberts, Dave Franco, Emily Meade, Miles Heizer, Juliette Lewis, Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly), and Kimiko Gl...

Sounds, well, nerve wrecking. Feeling powerless. Would need tons of pop corn to munch on through this!

I have not watch the whole movie, But I have seen parts of it. It was a bit good for me, it shows how many people will just for the sake of money.

So true, greed inspires a lot of immorality and dare I say - stupidity

Made me think of one of some latest dares someone here told us about: pouring hot water on people... I had a hard time teaching my kids (when they were at primary school age, ages ago), about the good dares and the bad ones.

Oh dear, that is sad. I know there were some dares like that going around here, such as eating a big spoon of cinnamon (the spice) and drinking boiling water. The latter of which killed someone. :-( I can't imagine how difficult that is as a parent explaining to kids which dares are a fun part of growing up and which are harmful

For some weird reason this makes me think of the girl who was using Facebook Live while driving drunk, and ended up crashing, and killing her sister. She was still live streaming and talking to her audience when she got out to check on her sister, who had been ejected. It's like people's actions are really being done for the entertainment of others.

So true, I can see where that real life event ties in. It has gone way too far this live streaming and so forth. How terrible for that girl though.

I thought the female lead was a little shallow, though - this movie stood up pretty well I thought... if you check it out I'd be curious to know your thoughts
