Preparing for school

Canada

All summer I have been on the lookout for deals on clothing for the kids for school. Since the school my kids attend has a standardized dress code(or a very loose uniform policy), they need specific clothing. In short, navy or dark blue pants(shorts, skirts or dresses) and either a navy or white shirt. I've purchased a few items here and there(my girls only needed a few items, as this isn't their first year, but my son required pretty much everything), and today I bought more. Thankfully the first stop on out shopping trip was good will. I still ended up spending almost $50 there, but left with 2 bags of things. We still have more supplies to purchase, but clothing is pretty much complete.

$50 isn't too bad for two bags of clothes.. glad you got enough for it to be almost complete.

@Courtlynn I wasn't sure if they would have what I needed. Thankfully they did. If I had purchased everything brand new and paid retail, I would have spent at least double.

All the items for my son were $3 each. My oldest daughter is just creeping into ladies sizes, so 3 of her shirts were $8, but all should be nice and warm for this winter.

Back to school preparation can be somewhat daunting - sounds like you did well with the clothing part...

@Morethanamom That is always a good idea... Much more manageable than rushing at last minute...

I love the Goodwill and shop there frequently. Yesterday wasn't one of the better days to find good clothing. We left empty handed.

Getting ready for school is costly, the supplies you have to get good deals on.

I got a good amount of the small supplies last weekend. We still need some lunch boxes and other items.

@Morethanamom yes, there is a lot to get, even if kids wear uniforms, there is a lot of things they need with that. The cost goes up every year.

It's nice to have that out of the way.

Well, I would say almost done. I am still going to be on the look out for more deals. 2 kids still need at least one pair of footwear. But definitely a major dent.
