Good evening fellow Mylotters. I was videochatting with my cousin today who took good care of my late father and now take good care of my property in the Philippines and Angus. She is also my student in baking cakes, cupcakes and pizzas in my home country. She is already good in baking and confident of doing this on her own while I am away.
The people who have tried her cakes has ordered her already because the taste is delicious and not so sweet. The cakes she make come from my recipes that I keep on baking and with some twists. The only thing that bothers her is decorating the cake. Yes, she is a beginner just I was 3 decades ago but she will progress.
The thing that bothers me is that she has a very good heart. Last week a friend of my relative came to her (with my relatives of course) asked her to please bake a birthday cake for her daughter. She has no money yet to buy as she is out of budget and asked my cousin if she could make her a cake for her daughters birthday and she will pay it in the end of this month. I hope she will be paid because she is so shy to ask for the money but my relative has obliged that she will be paid this month.
So my cousin made a moist chocolate cake, that one in the photo. My cousin was not contented with her decoration because she was not prepared to bake a cake this time and some decorating ingredients were consumed. The cake was collected by the mother of the celebrant and she was happy to have at least a cake for her daughter.
My 9 years old niece was there when my cousin was decorating the cake. She told my cousin not too worry because of the decoration. The girl said that what is important is that the cake is yummy. My cake has eaten often times by my relatives that is why she knew what she said.
Is the beautiful and fancy decoration of a cake more important than the yummy taste of the cake Itself? What do you think?
I hope everything is okay in your neck of the wood. Enjoy your new week. God bless.

I think it's important to make the cake look great with it's decorations but the taste matters more. Some cakes looks good but does not taste great. It's nice to know you know how to bake

It was nice of her to make a cake for the celebrant.
The design is so simple. I don't like cake with fancy designs. I love the cake itself.

that is a yummy chocolate cake. even without decorations or icings, i can still imagine it as tasteful as a well-decorated cake.

Yes, it is delicious @ridingbet. There was many times in Pinas that we had to buy cakes at rose bakeshop. The deco was beautiful but when we have eaten it, it tasted like they used a dishwasher detergent as flavouring. Sometimes the cake was just fluffy but not tasty at all. That is why my small nieces kept on saying to me and my cousin that they prefered our own baked cakes.

It looks beautiful, and delicious too! The decoration does not matter, but it's the taste that counts!
