The joys of puppydom - this young chap is all nips, yaps and bounces, a real ankle-biter and more than a handful at the moment.
Cute, though.

The joys of puppyhood.....the foibles of puppyhood. Our American Eskimo destroyed an antique chair in seven minutes while I took a shower.

@Morleyhunt. Love that kiddo anyway. The Siamese in residence over here loves computer cords. Oh my yes he does. Chomp chomp.

@Morleyhunt Oh what a perfect scenario for a book. We adopted a dog from the animal shelter and there was a certain time period in which we could return her. She was a good girl all during that time. Yup. Day after? She chewed up my husband's leather belt and one of my shoes. We didn't have a lot of money so replacing those items was not a sure thing.

@sallypup funny how none of those anecdotes made me think about a book. Just yesterday my sister in law were reminiscing about the days we had our babies. We wanted to write the book "Forever Pregnant". We both tended to bake our babies for more than the normal nine months. She suggested a sequel."Waiting for Dad to Go.....it Will Surprise You , What Old Folks Can Do!"

I am a sucker for animal posts, especially for German Shepherd puppies. I have 105 pound one who still acts like that. They never really do grow up and that is what I love about the breed. Always have that puppy spirit.

@pgntwo Our Leah is gentle but I could tell when she was a pup that she was not going to be a grown up twenty pounder. I'd gone through a lot with our little Sally so I decided to give it a go on teaching Leah manners. She grew to 80 pounds of muscle. Thank God her and I have worked together many hours. Sure has paid off.

@pgntwo It is a lot of work. 2 of them are 6 months old and they have their mother to keep them in check. The other one is only 2 months old. She is coming along just fine. All of them are housebroken and they are so fun to watch. At times I have to stop them because they get so wild when they play together.

@velvet53 We shall see. At the moment, Jaws is an appropriate name, he's like a shark, nipping your ankles when you're half asleep in the morning, standing pouring water from the kettle into your teapot... need eyes in the back of your head, the mischievous tinker!

@DaddyEvil He's been taken to a local trainer's first "familiarisation class" today. I foresee tales of doom and gloom in an hour or so. The older dog, who turned two this week, has an hour all to himself, no nippy, yappy pup to put up with. The cat, as usual, remains aloof, maintaining a healthy disdain... until feeding time this evening, no doubt.

I still have a table with chewed up legs from my lab when she was a puppy. She is gone now but her bite marks would live on forever.
