Fiber overload - no good!

Have you ever had too much fiber? I had the unfortunate experience of this yesterday. I know exactly what did it too. I had several tablespoons of chia seeds in about 3 different smoothies. I probably consumed double of the daily requirement of fiber (which is about 25 grms for most folks) .
I experienced some horrible stomach pain and cramping, and it felt like there was a brick in my stomach! I am sure this is TMI but it had a constipating effect. Sure enough after Googling it, the symptoms include these and nausea. Yikes. The only thing they suggested was to drink plenty of water.
Have you ever done this? I have definitely learned my lesson. On another note, do you monitor the amount of fiber you consume?

Ouch, I'm sorry! That sounds painful. I don't monitor my fiber intake but I know its not a whole lot.

Same. And some days I pay for it same way as Maezee is. But thankfully there's things for that

@maezee Honestly I haven't seen a chia seed. I will look for that in the supermarket here. Are they delicious?

I don't think I ever have too much. I'm opposite and have not enough most times.

Oh dear. I wondered what the consequence of too much fiber might be. That sucks.

Wow too much fiber caused constipation for you? I am taking it as the food I've eaten over the weekend has me blocked up a bit. Too much fiber gives me the runs.

Not with fiber, as could only imagine what to much fiber does to ones system. Problem with all this healthy stuff is people seem to going a wee bit over board and people need to be careful.

These days, I would just make a a moringa tea, or boiled vegetables and then add them on the viands / dish of my choice. It's probably faster and cheaper that way than making salads o smoothies, I'm actually too lazy to make those now.

I try to eat enough so that I don't have any issues. Sounds like you did indulge just a bit too much on the fiber

I don't monitor how much I eat of anything really. Maybe I do unconsciously.

My hubby and I are mostly vegetarian/vegans so yes to fiber. I rarely cook white noodles. Its whole grain tortillas and whole grain pasta and brown rice over here. Plus vegies. We have colorful plates. And as far as guts go, we eat quite a few beans, too!

Haven't experienced that feeling with fiber. I always make sure to have fiber in my meals.
