I feel as though in my younger age I am half asleep. I can't remember how did I learn to read all I know is when I turned Grade 3 I can just read fast. I even remember feeling sleepy and drowsy when my teacher in Grade 1 is teaching us to read. It's seem my mind is not yet fully developed at that time. I'm half conscious. We learn to read Filipino words by syllables like ba- be-bi-bo-bu. Now children are thought to use phonics and read CVC patterns like cat, mat, hat, can, fan, tan. Did you remember clearly how you learned to read?

I too can't remember it clearly. But I started to read from first standard and I can remember the lessons at that time. May be it was slow progressing job. I started to learn English from 5th standard.

@averygirl72 And down here it's called Year Level - so we say Year 1 up to Year 12.

Yes, I clearly remember how I learned to read French when I was 5 years old. My oldest sister taught me.

You are mature at 5 years old. I can't remember our lessons in reading but when I grow older i read automatically

We were probably too young to remember unless someone like our mom or teachers told us about it...

I can't remember my lessons then or if I struggled. Maybe I learned through pictures
