Almost better than seeing a celebrity

Do you have anyone in your life that you are more excited to see than if you would meet a celebrity? Here's my example. My friend invited me out to a local concert. The concert was put on by the Vee family - (these are the relatives of the 60s rock and roll icon Bobby Vee. They live in this area of Minnesota.) and interestingly enough it was a tribute to the music of Neil Diamond. The concert did not disappoint, the music quality was incredible... So right about here you're probably thinking that the "celebrity" I'm talking about is the local celebs - the Vees. And while it is always a treat to see them, that isn't who I meant. During band introductions - where the vocalist introduces the band members ... I couldn't believe it. Flashback to my early days as a college student. I was in my 20s but still this was my first taste of higher education. College was nothing like I thought it would be. At this time I went to a private college -- where I would learn that the instructors really were top rate. They seemed to care more than most of the instructors at the big state college that I later transferred to. Enter one of the best professors I have ever had. His classes were about management and communication. He taught about how to value people , about how to be constructive. About how to be a responsible leader. He is also a vibrant person. He shared stories about his personal life. He had made a board game (similar to monopoly) in order to train high ups in his organization. He used to be a keyboardist in the band "Up with people" and the band name is very much his philosophy. He's the sort of person that restores my faith in humanity. I cannot say enough good things about this man. It had been several years since I'd seen him. Back to the modern day - As the band was introduced at the Neil Diamond tribute act , - there he was, playing keyboard. My professor. Professor awesome. The band had a meet and greet later. I wondered if my prof. would recognize me so I had my whole script thought up to reintroduce myself. Didn't need it. He remembered me instantly. Actually he also remembered that I played bass - and introduced me to the band as a bassist. (eeee!) But that is the sort of person he is. He would remember that because he genuinely cares about people. To me, seeing this man is better than meeting celebrities. Here's the website for the Neil Diamond tribute act:
Matt Vee Family & Friends present: "I Am...He Said" a celebration of the music of Neil Diamond promo reel. ? . "I'm truly blessed to work with such gifted, dedicated musicians. I work with many musicians in many configurations suited to the performance." B
