Not productive and not really fun

The title says it all. I was hoping to find some fun, but did not. It is supposed to be a big weekend here in our little town. I helped hubby set up a vendor booth, after helping him load the van. I checked on him. I took him lunch, I helped him tear down. Nothing sold, maybe some recognition. We will do something different next Labor Day Weekend. I did go to the next town to the thrift shop. I did drive by the yard sales here in town. I did not even stop. I am looking for a desk and I could see they did not have one. My sister called. She was lonely, and she wanted a hamburger. We were going to go look at yet another car, and it was near enough to where she lives I bought her a hamburger and onion rings. On the way home hubby says, as he turns off the highway "I just have to run this brake fluid in to Sid. (Our mechanic) I sat in the car while he and Sid talked for over a half hour. I just needed to sound off, thank you.

Well, you know you can sound off here all you want, and we love it. What was your hubby trying to sell?

My husband has an Amsoil distributorship You may have heard of that. It is the first and best synthetic motor oil product line in the US. He has been using products from a company called Dri Wash 'n'Guard, which are polymer based. You can use it to clean a dirty car without using water. It also takes the place of wax and polish. In addition, we have a Shaklee distributorship which is cleaning products and personal care items.

@BarBaraPrz And both are still sold. We do not push it much, but I wanted him to clear some of the stuff we have. The problem, as I see it, is that all the companies decide to "branch out" and they overlap. DWG has engine oil additives, and also household cleaners and even body wash. Shaklee has household cleaners and personal care. Etc.

@GardenGerty Do people still buy/sell Shaklee? We don't hear much about it these days. It used to be big in the '70s. That and Amway.

It's really discouraging to be a vendor and not sell anything. I remember one home school convention in Texas. It was a new show and it was expensive to exhibit there. I lost big on the investment and none of the other vendors did very well either. Most of the conventions where I exhibited were very busy unless the customers were in workshops. It's really hard to just sit or stand in a booth and not get many visitors.

The big advantage here for hubby is that he had a car hood he wanted to clean up to put on his project car and he could do that all day. It also did not cost us anything to set up. Our home is across the road from the staging area for the parade tomorrow and he is going to set up his pop up here on our property and hope to attract visitors to look. When we set up in our yard it will be safe to leave it up for the next two days.

@GardenGerty Sounds ideal. What hurts is paying big money for an exhibit space in a large convention center and then not making enough to cover expenses.

There were times when I was sure my husband had forgotten about me being left waiting in the car while he just needed to drop something off...

I at least had a book with me that is work related so I was reading it. I think they have no idea how long they are taking.

It felt very wasted. Honestly, part of my problem is eating the wrong foods.Part of the problem was the running around, which made me feel tired. Today we will spend together and have some fun either at home or out and about.

This was supposed to be a "big day" but they are full of very sad items in my opinion. At least I could see from the curb that what I was looking for was not at any of them. I look a lot on the buy sell trade sites and find just what I need without wasting so much time and gas.

@GardenGerty That's why I use Facebook yard sale groups. Like you say, save on gas and time! I am not really looking for anything in particular - so it's not a big loss.

I had a bad attitude last night, and had not been eating right or resting enough. Today is a better day already.
