I don't understand?

So let me first warn you this is about some racial things that have come up in the media lately and got me thinking. So be warned this my or may not upset you. So there is the ESPN host, Jemele Hill who calls President Trump a "white Supremacist" on her twitter account and she doesn't get fired for it but do you remember when Curt Shilling got fired for sharing a tweet that was anti open bathrooms concerning transgenders. Kind of seems like a double standard to me. I guess I don't really understand. In other news there is Democratic Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal who decided to post on her Facebook account, "I hope Trump is assassinated!". Now I guess she didn't say she was going to do it so I guess it is not breaking the law but sure seems wrong to me. I don't understand how she is not removed from office but I guess "they" asked her to step down, guess what, she said no. She did say, she only said it in frustration. Oh, so that makes it okay then. So we also have Republican Rep. Warren Love, who posted to his Facebook, that he hoped that the people who vandalized the Confederate monument in Springfield, Missouri would be "hung from a tall tree with a long rope." Now he claims he was just using and old saying and only meant that they should be brought to justice. I don't buy that for a minute, he was being racist in my opinion. Again he was asked to step down and well, he said no. I don't understand, should they all have been fired or should they be free to say and think what they want? I mean this is America, Land of the Free, and we do have freedom of speech, right? Well, some of this speech might not be covered under the 1st Amendment. Think about it. Do you understand? Maybe you know better than I.

Yes I do understand what you are saying. People have said less than those things and most likely it would be considered terrorism. Free speech is not always free.

Well lots of people fair to realize or maybe they don't want to think about it, but free speech is from government not private businesses or citizens.

Gee, I'd be afraid to actually put that in writing about Trump. Sometimes I'm afraid the feds will read my mind and come after me...lol! Seriously though, I hadn't heard that about the Democratic Senator. She must be a state Senator, since I don't recognize the name and I pay quite a bit of attention to politics, right? Do you know which state? I might have heard about the guy about the monuments, at least I heard about something similar to it. Anyway, I agree that those things shouldn't have been posted, free speech or not, just because we HAVE a right doesn't MAKE it "right", you know? However, I also get that public office holders can't simply be "fired" they have to be removed from office according to the rules dictated by their local, state or federal government if the constituents so desire. As far as Curt Shilling, ESPN explained that he'd been warned several times but he repeated the same mistake several times so they finally fired him. Jemele Hill was warned and so far she hasn't done it again. Here's my own personal view on this, which anyone has every right to agree or disagree with - I happen to concur with Ms. Hill regarding Donald and, to be honest, since he's very much a public figure and especially since he doesn't hesitate for one second to say or write whatever pops into his orange head about anyone who crosses him he's fair game as long as no violence is called for. That's where the line should always be drawn. Shilling was kind of trashing private citizens My biggest problem with this whole topic was when White House Press Secretary called for Hill to be fired. She definitely overstepped. President Obama's Press Secretary never called for Donald Trump to be fired from The Apprentice when he was carrying on with his "birther" nonsense.

@Bensen32 She didn't say anything political on the air, the remarks in question was in her private Twitter account. Personally, I don't think what she said was stupid at all, I think she was absolutely right.

@anniepa Oh, my misunderstanding then I thought it was on air that she said it. I don't know that it was stupid but I don't agree with her but we are all entitled to our opinion :)

I'm not sure what state she was from. I think in politics maybe they should be held to a higher standard, including Trump. They are suppose to be working for the people. The American people no matter what race. As for the sports lady, her job is to report on sports news not giving your personal opinion on the president whether she likes him or not I don't care what her opinion is about that. I turn on ESPN for sports not politics. Yea, I don't think she should be fired right way, but some reaction from her boss was in order. We all say stupid things, difference for most people is they are not in the public eye and it's not recorded so no biggy, but when it is well you have to deal with the trouble that comes with it.
