I used to get sleep paralysis once in a while in the past it's terrifying. Usually you have a dream that you are being attacked when you are in bed and cannot move or scream. It feels very real and scary. I usually woke up sweating and moaning! Have you ever had this experience?

I have that quite often and have my whole life. The only time it stopped happening was after my divorce when I bought my own house and my life was calm and I was in a place I loved. I call them "screamer dreams". Eventually, after what seems to be a million years, I am able to get out a squeak then a groan and finally a full scream. The entire house runs to my room to find out what is wrong. I have a lot of stress in my life and that is why my dreams plague me so. When my lease is up I will move into a place of my own with no children or grandchildren living with me. I think that then my screamer dreams will be very infrequent if they come at all. These are so frightening! Sometimes I don't want to go back to sleep but it helps if I leave the light on for some reason. I hope that you find the source of your tension that is making you feel helpless. Once you find and deal with that those dreams should stop.
