when i was at the mall the other day, i saw this electronic billboard with 100 on it and a reminder of the holiday countdown. i just dread the traffic and the crowds and lines at the mall.

@JolietJake we don't have thanksgiving nor halloween, but we do have all saints day and all souls day (nov 1 and 2) and that's what i need to plan for first before i think about christmas

Well you should come to Latvia just for extra fun. On December 26 we have second Christmas just like in the U.K. that day they have Boxing Day so we have an extra Christmas holiday. Ho, Ho, Ho

I don't mind people being a grinch. Not everyone likes Christmas. I could do without the hype of it all and my partner has never been bothered by it. However, he isn't as bad as my ex who would go out of his way to ruin it for everyone just because he didn't like it!
I have my reasons for wanting to make the most of Christmas Day. Those reasons are mostly because it is the one day a year when I get to be at home and spend time with my boys. It's also partly because of having a lot of years of horrible Christmases.
I don't see the necessity of putting up decorations in August or getting into stupid amounts of debt for it, though!

Spain has from November the 29th to January 6th for Christmas, The All Saints and The Three kings too.
Also being from great Britain makes for two whole days of celebrating on the 25th and on the 26th known as Boxing Day also.
Oh the All Saints Day is on November the first every year.
Is there a Grinch Number Three then?

As a kid, my favorite thing was having my birthday 11 days after Christmas...everything was on sale so I'd get really good stuff.

Up here I hear a lot of the "It just doesn't feel like Christmas without any snow". 
I guess they never stop to think that probably 2/3 of the Earth doesn't have snow during Christmas.

Christmas stuff is already popping up in stores and they haven't even finished putting their Halloween displays out yet. I don't mind Christmas, but I hate that it crowds out the other holidays. And I hate the holiday crowds in general! It's like people forget how to behave in public once the holidays get near.
