I don't know how many times I've watched the movie Dune (the one from the 1980s, not the SyFy miniseries), and I never recognized David Lynch in a cameo in his own movie... that is, not before tonight. In a scene where workers are being evacuated from a spice harvester before it is attacked by a sandworm, Lynch plays the harvester's radio operator. For some reason, it never clicked for me who played the radio operator until tonight. I wonder if I didn't recognize him because he's much younger in this movie than in other things he's been in, like the really loud FBI director in Twin Peaks. Speaking of which, I need to set up that free trial month of Showtime soon so I can watch the new episodes of Twin Peaks that just aired this year.

I don't know David Lynch. I have seen Dune - the original. I had a hard time with the movie and the book. I just couldn't follow it. I'll need to try again. I never got to the other two books because I couldn't understand the first one.

David Lynch was the director of Dune. He's known for having pretty surreal films, but it was also a surreal book.

Also, I think there were 5 books altogether.

It's a little weird and confusing, but stays pretty true to the book. I think I was 14 or so when I first saw it.
