Barcelona wants the independence? / myLot

What a shocking news for me to hear that Barcelona wants the independence and leaves Spain. Perhaps I don't know its history and therefore I can't understand it. I remember Barcelona was ever held the Olympics Games in the past and it is a city from Spain. The sun sets so late in summer. That's all what I know about Barcelona.

Catalonia is just organizing a local referendum which is not recognized by Spain. I doubt that they will ever leave, even if they vote to leave (they voted 'No' last time). It is politics at its best

Yes I keep seeing videos about this..it is really something strange going on..same over here, California wants to be its own country too independent of the USA.

USA is a powerful country. I don't know California can be the same powerful when it leaves USA.

Catalonia is the region and Barcelona is the capital city, its the whole Catalonia that wants to secede. It has historical roots that could easily be searched.
