Commenting on old posts

I often see an interesting-looking post off on the sidebar, go read it, and it is still interesting. However, the date might be two months ago or last year. So I was not commenting.
However, I decided yesterday that if it was interesting when posted, it is probably still interesting, so why not? Why should that interesting subject not be a benefit to the person who posted it? So I think I will start commenting on oldies but goodies, if they are interesting to me. It benefits the writer and encourages good posts.
What do you think? Do you comment on old posts?

I have done so. A good post is a good post regardless of its date.

I have done so occasionally. And I've gotten comments on old posts of mine.

Ten years ago I was spending so much time here that I had no choice but to start going through discussions from oldest first, because I'd already read everything else
Some of it was rubbish, obviously, but so are some new discussions :')

I will comment on old posts if it catches my attention. That might bring back up again and then get more comments.
