Generational Curses

Theological scholars differ to a great extent on the reality of generational curses. It is something I used to think about and was gonna research, but my closest family members and religious denomination thinks it is ludicrous to believe in such. They poke fun at anyone who gives it credence or spends any amount of time researching. However, lately I am not one to just take someone's word for something. I am intrigued and going to look into this topic again. Does anyone have an opinion? Do you think generational curses exist? Why or why not?
