Is Your Mama a Llama?

That is the title of a book for little children, but it is what came to mind when we passed the goat farm with the watch llama. Here in Kansas it has become popular to raise llamas. They are excellent to put in your fields with your more vulnerable herds of animals. Animals like sheep for instance, or goats. Llamas can make good pets, but they are protective, also. They will attack "canid" animals, that is, wild dogs, wolves, coyotes, and foxes. Any dog like animal that is attacking your flocks or herds or just does not belong on your property.. The name of the first llama farm I heard about was The Velvet Nose Llama Farm. I thought you might like to know this, even if your mama is not a llama.

I was surprised when I learned this. I was wondering why we had llama farms so I then found out.

@Courtlynn There is a petting zoo here in Kansas that travels to fairs everywhere, and they have llamas. It is called Hedricks.

I haven't heard of llama before. What useful animals they are! They actually serve as shepherd dogs in a way to protect flocks or herds from being attacked by the wolves and what not.

Yes, where they come from they also are pack carriers. They have cousins called guanaco and alpaca. Alpaca is known for really great hair to make yarn. Lots of great animals.

I love children's books and finally read that one. Another one I would like to read is "Nobody Knows I Have Sensitive Toes". Great creative writing out there for me to borrow.

@GardenGerty , Is this a Kindle book? There is one entitled : Nobody Knows I Have Delicate Toes by Nancy Patz, but the title is not the same as the one you indicated. I have trouble locating the book by that exact title you provided. The one with the title I provided in this comment is a children's book sold by Amazon in the children's books section. I have a link for you to see what types of children's books are by Nancy Patz:
Nancy Patz is a Baltimore-based Children's Book Illustrator. Her popular picture book, "Who Was The Woman Who Wore the Hat" won the Sydney Taylor Award in 2003.

wow, I didn't know that llama could defend itself that good. I would love to have a few in the backyard... (only because they look funny!)

Not only does it defend itself but also it's property and animals around it. Sharp hooves and biting, I believe.

@YrNemo About like a burro or horse would. You could lead it, it would enjoy having you come groom it and give it treats. Kids here have them for 4H and FFA (farming clubs).
